About Us
The Second Smile Foundation Limited, founded in 2017 by two dentists, Dr. Ronald Chan and Dr. Michelle Yu, is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with limited access to dental care. Our team comprises dedicated dentists, nurses, volunteers, staff members, and partners who collaborate to make a positive impact. The initial phase was a seeding period with partial operations. In 2024, the Second Smile Foundation reached a significant milestone by establishing its own office and hiring full-time staff to serve a larger number of people in need. Additionally, we developed our own website and social media channels to effectively communicate our work to the public.
In 2016, we initiated our services with the Shining Smile Project, in collaboration with Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service - Hong Kong. Our initiative restores the dentition grossly broken down by drugs in ex-drug abusers and improves their oral health. We go beyond restoring oral function and aesthetics, aiming to help them reintegrate into society and regain the confidence to support others in recovery. Through the generous support of our corporate partners, who sponsor the prosthesis and equipment, we are able to deliver comprehensive dental care services. To date, the Project has providing about 500 treatments.
Driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance to smile, we expanded our volunteer services to assist underprivileged individuals, including young mothers and elderly who have limited access to dental health care due to distance and financial constraints. Our mission is to provide dental care to underprivileged individuals with limited access to dental healthcare, focusing on improving their oral health so they can regain their smiles and enhance their quality of life. We break down barriers to ensure that those in need can access dental care.

We also emphasize sustainable self-care oral practices for the underprivileged, providing dental education to equip them with the knowledge to maintain their oral health. To achieve this, we actively collaborate with dental professionals and corporations, pooling our collective efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need through treatment and education.
